Most of the students in the first class at USC College Prep, Santa Ana Campus, come from the local community — and they’re feeling the faculty’s high expectations: Its sister school, USC Hybrid High, had a 100 percent graduation rate this year — and a 100 percent college acceptance rate, too.
The finding contradicts a previous report that being overweight increases longevity. “The new results on overweight should be strong motivation for people to return to a healthy weight,” says Jonathan Samet of the USC Institute for Global Health, one of the new study’s authors.
