Michael Quick to become provost
The new provost has the “abilities, experience and knowledge that will best serve our large, complex and very ambitious research university,” says President C. L. Max Nikias.
In back-to-back studies, researchers show how fasting combined with a class of cancer-inhibiting drugs can starve colorectal, breast and lung cancer cells. If shown to work in humans, the combination could replace chemotherapy, according to senior author Valter Longo of USC.
International executives William McMorrow ’69, MBA ’70 and Heliane Steden ’86 have been named to the USC Board of Trustees. They begin their service in June.
For the next crop of future Trojans, the wait is over: Acceptance letters for USC’s Class of 2019 are in the mail. This year’s admits form the most selective class ever, with 18 percent of nearly 52,000 applicants invited to join the Trojan Family.
