California State Science Fair

The California State Science Fair is the final science fair of the academic year for students throughout the State of California in grades 6 - 12, serving California's future scientists since 1952. It is hosted by the California Science Center (formerly, the California Museum of Science and Industry).

The 58th annual California State Science Fair was held on May 18-19, 2009. This year there were 965 participants from 374 schools throughout the State meeting in competition for awards totaling over $60,000.

We are deeply grateful to our Presenting Benefactor, Northrop Grumman, for providing essential funding to make possible the 2009 California State Science Fair. Special thanks also go to THE MUSES of the California Science Center Foundation for their generous donations and volunteer efforts.

Award Checks Mailed (June 29)

All award checks were placed into the mail today. This includes all checks for all awards (Major Fair Awards, category awards, Special Awards) as well as refunds where owed.

Student and Judge Surveys

Surveys concerning experiences at the Fair have been sent to every student and every judge who was present. If you have not gotten yours, please contact us for a new one.

Photographs Posted (May through July)

These now include all portraits, all awards presentations, many during the judging interviews, and will include audience shots during the ceremonies. More photos added daily.
