Krisztina Holly joined USC in 2006 and serves as executive director of the USC Stevens Institute for Innovation, where she works with academic units across the university to identify promising innovations and innovators, helping faculty and students make societal impact with their ideas. Reporting directly to the provost, she oversees a highly qualified and growing staff with expertise spanning the business, marketing, financial and legal implications of intellectual property management, technology licensing and new venture creation.
The USC Stevens Institute is a university-wide resource designed to nurture, protect and transfer the most exciting innovations from USC to the market and, in turn, to provide a central connection for potential industry investors seeking cutting-edge innovations. From the biosciences and technology to music and cinematic arts, the USC Stevens Institute brings together faculty, students and the business community to create an environment for stimulating and inspiring the process of innovation.
Holly came to USC from MIT, where she served as founding executive director of the Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation, which in its first three years spawned nine start-up companies that raised $40 million from top-tier venture capital firms. Her previous experience includes work on the marketing team with start-up search engine Direct Hit Technologies (purchased by Ask Jeeves for $500 million in 2000) as well as science documentary production.
Holly holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from MIT, with a focus on optics and product design.
