Ilee Rhimes
Chief Information Officer and Vice Provost for Information Technology Services |
Ilee Rhimes was appointed chief information officer and vice provost for information technology services effective February 1, 2007. In this capacity, he is responsible for advancing the federated model for information technology (IT) that was recommended by the Provost-Senate Faculty Committee for Information Services and endorsed by deans and university administration. According to this model, USCs central IT organization provides essential university-wide services, such as the core network, telephone service and e-mail, while units are empowered to acquire and develop the IT services needed to meet their individual needs. Rhimes also oversees the continued implementation of key infrastructure initiatives, including wired and wireless networking, videoconferencing and multimedia classrooms on both the University Park and Health Sciences campuses.
Rhimes came to USC from Ohio State University, where he had served as chief information officer since November 2000. His background encompasses more than 35 years experience working in the fields of information technology and finance in both the public and private sectors, including more than a decade in technology leadership roles at Miami and Kent State universities in Ohio.
Rhimes holds a B.A. from Governors State University in University Park, Illinois, and an M.B.A. from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. In addition, he has earned certificates from numerous professional development programs, including the executive leadership program of the National Association of College and University Business Officers.
