Associate Vice President and University Treasurer

Ruth Wernig was appointed treasurer of the university in 2004, responsible for overseeing the investment management of USC’s endowment, working capital, pension and life income assets. She works closely with the investment committee of the USC Board of Trustees to develop an overall investment strategy for the endowment and makes quarterly reports on endowment performance to the finance committee of the board. She also chairs the university’s Retirement Oversight Committee.

Wernig came to USC in 1994 as a treasury associate and was appointed associate treasurer in 1998. Before joining USC, she worked at RAND and at State Street Bank.

Wernig received her bachelor’s degree in economics from Brown University and her master’s degree from Boston University. A Chartered Financial Analyst, she is a member of the CFA Institute as well as the Los Angeles Society of Financial Analysts.
