Intellectual Property Issues: Copyright, Courseware and Patent Policies

During the Fall 2000 Semester, the University Research Committee is expected to review patent policy documents in light of senate discussions during the 1999-2000 academic year. There will also be an effort of a Joint Research Committee / Administration working group to separate issues of copyright, courseware and patent policy. We will post any drafts as they become available.

• NEW USC's Intellectual Property Policy (passed)

  • The Intellectual Property Policy has been approved by Lloyd Armstrong, Jr. 
    and Dennis Dougherty, and was passed by the Academic Senate in Spring 2001.

• New Information Technologies and Intellectual Property at the University of Chicago

• Early Draft of Intellectual Property Policy: Now under revision

• Mark Smith - AAUP Comments (an early draft)

• Engineering's Response to Initial Proposal on Intellectual Property Policy

• MFA's Response to Initial Proposal on Intellectual Property Policy

• NEW Revised Intellectual Property Policy

  • There will be a resolution proposed to endorse a revised Intellectual Property 
    Policy, which responds to discussion from last year by offering more options for 
    present faculty.

• NEW New Incubator Policy

  • A draft of a new policy for USC on incubators will be discussed at our March 21 
    meeting with the aim of informing further discussion within the Research Committee.
