OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE ON ATHLETIC ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
(OCAAA)

A. The committee provides the provost with oversight and advice on matters related to academic support for student-athletes through the following functions:

  1. Reviews and advises on the academic counseling on student-athletes.
  2. Reviews and advises on programs, operations and policies on the Student Athlete Academic Services (SAAS).
  3. Reviews and advises on policies and programs of the athletic department affecting the academic performance of student-athletes.
  4. Serves as a review board for student-athlete appeals affecting athletic eligibility.
  5. Reviews the academic performance of student-athletes, including progress to degree and graduation rates.
  6. Reviews and advises on policies and practices designed to assure academic integrity in all academic-related matters for student-athletes.
  7. Reviews and advises on policies and practices designed to ensure compliance with NCAA and PAC-10 academic regulations.
B. The committee is also available for consultation by the president, as occasions may arise, on other academic matters related to athletics.
