

APPLYING FOR NEED-BASED FINANCIAL AID
Financial aid for graduate students at USC includes the Federal Stafford Loan, Graduate PLUS loan, Perkins Loan and Work Study. Need-based aid and financing is described on this page. Eligible students may also receive graduate fellowships and assistantships, and scholarships from USC and outside agencies. See the Grants & Fellowships section of this website.
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online by May 5, 2008. This application qualifies you for the low-interest Federal Stafford Loan.
- Use your best estimate of 2007 student income.
- USC’s Federal School Code is 001328.
- Apply on or after January 1, 2008.
- Complete the Supplemental Form for Graduate Students, 2008-2009 and fax it to the Financial Aid Office by May 5, 2008. For faxing instructions, visit www.usc.edu/contactfao.
To be considered for Federal Work Study and/or Perkins Loan, students must submit the FAFSA and Supplemental form by May 5, 2008, enroll in 8 or more units per semester, and meet a financial need requirement, In addition, for Perkins Loan, students must (1) have borrowed a Perkins Loan at USC in the prior year or (2) be enrolled in one of the following programs: Masters of Arts in Teaching, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Nurse Anesthesiology, Physician Assistant Practice or Social Work.
Students who wish to only be considered for Federal Stafford and/or Graduate PLUS loans need not meet the deadline but should apply at least 60 days prior to the beginning of the academic year to ensure that loan proceeds will be available by the fee settlement date.
