Merit-based scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence, leadership, service, talent, and the other specific criteria. They are types of financial aid that do not have to repaid. This section explains merit-based grant and scholarship options for freshmen only, freshmen and transfer students, and continuing students.
Scholarships will generally change the composition of your financial aid award—in most cases, reducing your student loans or Federal Work-Study. For specific information about your award, contact the Financial Aid Office.
