USC Rossier School of Education

The mission of the USC Rossier School of Education is to redefine excellence in urban education by addressing the key multicultural, multilingual and social issues of education in the 21st century. Graduate programs at the school equip educational leaders to guide students in a wide variety of settings and to establish the conceptual and administrative frameworks for tomorrow’s educational institutions.

The school is home to six distinguished interdisciplinary research institutes:

  • The Center for Cognitive Technology conducts and analyzes research that supports effective technology-based instructional programs for schools and workplaces.
  • Dedicated to the inspiration and advancement of outstanding and innovative teachers, the Center for Excellence in Teaching enhances the teaching and learning experiences of faculty, graduate students and undergraduates.
  • The Center for Higher Education Policy Analysis researches issues that affect postsecondary education, including financial aid and access for students of color.
  • The Center for Multilingual, Multicultural Research facilitates collaboration by members of the academic community with special interests in multilingual education, English as a second language, foreign language instruction, multicultural education and related areas.
  • The mission of the Center for Urban Education is to establish successful institutional environments for socially and economically disenfranchised urban children, youth and adults.
  • The Center on Educational Governance—which unites USC Rossier faculty with colleagues in the USC Marshall School of Business and the USC School of Policy, Planning, and Development—studies effective U.S. and multinational school networks and strategic alliances.
