USC Thornton School of Music
Founded in 1884, the USC Thornton School of Music consistently ranks among the top one percent of the nation's music schools and conservatories. The nearly 200 artists, composers and scholars on the faculty are internationally recognized for their performances, recordings, commissions and publications.
With a student-faculty ratio of 6:1, the school offers a conservatory-style education in the context of a research university and a major cultural center. USC Thornton is the collegiate partner of choice for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Opera, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. The school presents more than 500 performances annually—more than any professional orchestra in the U.S.—in facilities ranging from 1,220-seat Bovard Auditorium to three intimate recital halls.
