If you are applying to any of the majors in this section, it is your responsibility to complete your application by the appropriate deadline. Unless otherwise noted, all deadlines are the same as those listed on the Dates and Deadlines page. Be sure to obtain any required supplementary forms and to fulfill all departmental requirements.

USC College of Letters, Arts and Sciences


Academic Program

Application Guidelines

The USC College of Letters, Arts and Sciences and the Keck School of Medicine of USC have a joint Baccalaureate/M.D. program for a small number of entering freshmen. Students admitted to this eight-year program are guaranteed admission to the Keck School, provided they meet specific criteria while enrolled as USC undergraduates.

Applicants to the Baccalaureate/M.D. program must submit the Undergraduate Application by the December 1, 2009 deadline to be considered. In addition, applicants must send supplementary materials to the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. Visit the USC College website or call for specific Baccalaureate/M.D. instructions. Applicants must be high school students who are entering USC as first-time freshmen. Applicants may choose any major.

USC School of Architecture

Application Guidelines

All applicants, including international students, must submit the Undergraduate Application to the Office of Admission and a portfolio directly to the School of Architecture. Consult the architecture website for instructions.

The B.Arch. (a five-year undergraduate program) is a professional degree accredited by the National Architecture Accrediting Board (NAAB). Transfer students should note that placement level and the number of semesters needed to complete the studio sequence are dependent on skill level, not unit count.

USC Marshall School of Business

Application Guidelines

Students who wish to be considered for the USC Marshall School of Business should list their first-choice major as Business Administration or Accounting.

Freshman applicants who have demonstrated exceptional scholastic aptitude for the accounting or business majors (based on GPA and SAT/ACT scores) will be automatically considered for admission to the Global Leadership Program.

Transfer applicants will be considered for admission once applicants have completed the prerequisite courses (college writing, macro- and microeconomics, business calculus) and if they meet USC admission requirements. Transfer applicants interested in Accounting must apply to Business Administration. Contact the Marshall School for a list of equivalent courses. Application Guidelines

Freshman applicants to the USC School of Cinematic Arts must submit the Undergraduate Application and all supplementary materials by the December 1, 2009 deadline to be considered. The Transfer application deadline for Writing for Screen & Television is December 1st. The Transfer application deadline for Animation, Critical Studies, Film & Television Production and Interactive Entertainment is February 1st.

Contact the department for the School of Cinematic Arts Bulletin, which contains specific application instructions and requirements for the supplementary materials.

Production applicants must select Production as their first-choice major.

Transfer applicants to the Writing Program should note that the core curriculum for this program takes four full years at USC to complete.

International applicants must submit TOEFL scores.

Application Guidelines

All applicants must submit a one-page statement of intent discussing their reasons for pursuing an education and a career in journalism or public relations. The statement of intent must be mailed to USC Office of Admission.

International students must submit SAT I or ACT results and/or TOEFL scores.

There is no supplemental application form.

Application Guidelines

The dental hygiene curriculum starts in the fall semester of the junior year, after program prerequisites have been completed. Students may transfer prior to the junior year so that they may complete pre-dental hygiene requirements at USC. The Dental Hygiene Supplemental Application is required and may be obtained by contacting the USC School of Dentistry.

Application Guidelines

Students who wish to be considered for the USC Viterbi School of Engineering should list their first-choice major as any engineering or computer science emphasis, or Undeclared Engineering (code 387).

For freshman applicants to all majors in engineering and computer science, four years of mathematics are required for admission consideration, preferably with calculus in progress or completed by senior year. Three years of natural sciences are also required.

Transfer applicants to all majors in engineering and computer science should have completed one or more semesters of college-level calculus and meet USC admission requirements. Students are encouraged to complete additional pre-engineering course work as available. Contact the Viterbi School for a detailed list of relevant courses.

Application Guidelines

A supplementary application is required for all majors. An audition is required for most majors. Visit the USC Thornton School of Music website for audition dates and requirements. Priority Audition Deadline: Applicants are urged to submit the supplementary application directly to the music admission office by December 1st to receive priority consideration for an audition appointment. In addition, the Undergraduate Application must be submitted to the Office of Admission by December 1, 2009.

USC Health Professions

Application Guidelines

Students should apply to USC in an undergraduate major of their choice and list pre-occupational therapy (POT) as their pre-professional emphasis.

Applications to the major may be submitted to the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy after the freshman or sophomore student has completed one semester of full-time study at USC. Students transferring to USC as juniors may simultaneously submit departmental applications while applying to the university. USC School of Pharmacy

Application Guidelines

The Trojan Admission Pre-Pharmacy program (TAP) is a unique program for entering freshmen: a pre-pharmacy/doctor of pharmacy curriculum that affords students continuity in their professional education. Students admitted to TAP begin their pre-pharmacy course work at USC in the freshman year and are guaranteed admission to the USC School of Pharmacy, provided they meet specified criteria. Applicants should select any major or "Open (Still Deciding)" for Question 2 of the application and should also select PRPH (Pre-Pharmacy) for Question 3, pre-professional emphasis. Freshman applicants to TAP must submit the Undergraduate Application by the January 11th deadline. In addition, applicants must file all supplementary materials with the School of Pharmacy by March 1 to receive notification of TAP status prior to May 1. Both freshman and transfer applicants must file two applications, the Undergraduate Application and a supplementary application for the USC School of Theatre.

Both applications are due by December 1st. Once the supplemental form is received by the USC School of Theatre, students will be notified of the dates and locations of auditions and interviews. The supplementary application is available by contacting the USC School of Theatre or by visiting the USC School of Theatre website.
