USC arts schools rank among the greatest in the nation, and students pursuing studies in the arts are encouraged to stretch themselves across schools and disciplines. In the words of President Steven Sample, “More than any of its peer universities, USC is steadfastly committed to imparting breadth with depth to each of its students, especially at the undergraduate level... Breadth with depth involves in-depth knowledge of two or more disparate fields.” In this spirit USC offers students ample opportunity to embrace cross-disciplinary education, whether by taking one of two special arts-focused interdisciplinary majors –
(1) Animation and Digital Arts and
(2) Business Administration/Cinema-Television – or by pursuing an interdisciplinary minor such as Musical Theater, Cinema-Television for the Health Professions, Communication and the Entertainment Industry, Performing Arts Studies, and Visual Culture, all of which bridge across several schools.
