ELECTRONIC
KEY ACCESS
Electronic Access Control…Another use for your USCard
USCard Services in partnership with other campus departments including DPS and Facilities Management offers seamless, integrated (security management) solutions for access control and alarm monitoring services.
Physical access
points such as doors, gates, elevators are networked to the
University's electronic access control platforms administered
by USCard Services, DPS, and Facilities Management.
The locking hardware becomes
electrified to respond to system commands. Requests to enter, card
swipes, are actually queries of database information programmed onto
local hardware. The requests and subsequent action such as releasing
the lock occur in less than 1 second. Alarm monitoring is easy to
integrate by installing contact points which are wired into and
monitored by the same systems! Initial start-up costs often vary
depending upon current door hardware and facility cabling and
conduit issues. Operational cost is contained to monthly maintenance
fees and communication charges for TCP/IP or dial-up connectivity.

Turn your
USCARD Into An ELECTRONIC KEY!
Key Control.....Do
you know who has a key? And, when it is used?
- Quickly grant or deny access on an
individual basis
- Eliminate mechanical keys
- Forget lost keys and re-keying;
only one card holder is affected
- Visitors, vendors, associates
never need a key with a limited access card
- Control the dates, start and
expiration, for access
- Request an audit; remember
mechanical keys can not be tracked
- USCard can't be easily
duplicated. Keys can, even keys a locksmith shouldn't
duplicate!
Secure Yet Free Access
Schedule doors to lock/unlock with
or without staff coverage.
Examples include:
- Unlock during business hours
with electronic key access for locked conditions
- Lock 24 by 7 with electronic key
access for entry
- Mix scenarios based upon day of
the week, holidays
- Assign cardholder access based on
different needs such as shifts, night, weekend, etc.
- Control special circumstances such
as handicap access
- Change the door
state for a temporary condition
- Secure entrances not staffed such
as back doors, side entrances, service elevators
ALARM
MONITORING is built in with Electronic Access Control
A significant advantage
of the university's access control system is the integration
of alarm monitoring. Access control may be expanded into a
security system with the addition of alarms (contacts) at the
access points for constant status and monitoring. Using state
of the art systems in place at DPS and USCard Services and
industry standard TCP/IP or dial up communications protocol
makes this security enhancement easy to install and easy to
support.
- Audible alarms if a door (or other
entry/exit point) is propped open beyond a defined threshold of
time
- Identify forced entries. The
system can silently detect a lock has been forced open versus
opening on schedule or by use of electronic card swipe.
- Alarm emergency only exits, or any
exit point
- Use industry standard platforms
