Home to the men's and women's volleyball teams, the North Gym
has been the home of some of the greatest USC volleyball teams
ever, including the 1981 squad which won the first-ever NCAA Championship
in the sport.
The North Gym is located inside the venerable USC Physical Education Building
located just east of Cromwell Field. The P.E. Building was built in 1933 and
is among the classic buildings on the USC campus. The North Gym's cozy environment
and tight quarters continually provide one of the most intimidating homecourt
advantages in the Pac-10.
"We really look forward to playing in the North Gym," USC Associate
Athletic Director Lisa Love said. "It reeks of history. There are so many
great players who have played in that gym. The players like the soft floor and
they like the tight environment."
