Membership Programs at the USC Univeristy ClubOur stated mission at the USC University Club is “to provide the highest level of personal service, food, beverage and facilities to all our members and their guests in a unique environment that enhances the diverse, intellectual and cultural pursuits of the university.” One important part of that mission includes offering members a wide range of nearly 30 special programs each year that, first and foremost, take a multi-disciplinary approach. We aim to create events that draw upon the brilliance of our faculty from many schools and upon the talents of our extremely gifted students. Our goal is to provide three key elements in all of our member events: fine dining, important social connections, and an intellectually-charged atmosphere, all at a reasonable price. Whether it’s “An Intimate Evening with Midori Goto” or “Spring Musical Night,” you will come away from our events with a deeper connection to the university by mingling with some of the members of our highly regarded faculty community and getting an up-close look at our extraordinary students. For example, one of the many evening events we host each year are the Fall and Spring Opera Dinners in conjunction with the USC Thornton School of Music. Working with Thornton, and drawing upon their esteemed faculty and highly-skilled students, our Opera Dinners feature not only a cocktail reception and wonderful dinner, but student performances, a discussion about the opera production by a faculty member, and preferred tickets to the show at the Bing Theatre. Our Meet-4-Lunch events are a lunchtime affair featuring prominent members of the university community, such as Adam Clayton Powell, III, Richard Dekmejian, Kevin Starr, Howard Gillman, among many others. Another lunchtime favorite is La Table Francaise where those fluent in French gather once a month to practice the language. We have formed alliances with the Thornton School of Music, the School of Theatre, the Roski School of Fine Arts, the Office of Religious Life, the Department of French and Italian, and many other entities on campus. All of the events we offer are intended to maximize our members’ exposure to the best of campus life. Each event is described in detail and announced in our weekly and monthly e-newsletters. In the meantime, if you have any questions about our special member events, please call Stephanie Helper at (213) 740-5208.
