OFF-CAMPUS LECTURE, MFA ONLY
Larry Bell divides his time between California and Taos, New Mexico. His explorations between art and technology in the late 1960s and early 1970s and his glass constructions launched him into national prominence. Interest in perception and the expressive possibilities of light and space also led him to experiment with works on paper coated with thin layers of lustrous vaporized metal. Bell’s shimmering works simultaneously block and transfer light while challenging viewers’ perceptions of depth, shape, and surface.
