This exhibition features commissioned artwork by established contemporary artists who focus on the border region.

This exhibition of commissioned artwork by established contemporary artists explores the spaces where Aztec, Mestizo-tech and high tech come together, producing a "postborder metropolis." Focusing on the border region between Southern California and Baja California, "Mixed Feelings" examines relationships among contemporary art production, urbanization/globalization, and the politics of cultural representation. Through visual art, film, and text, the exhibition presents a multidimensional critical view of the border as a paradigmatic space for the production of unique cultural and aesthetic hybrids.

Artists include Amalia Mesa-Bains, Einar & Jamex de la Torre, Laura Alvarez, Mark Bradford, Rubén Ortiz Torres, Norman Yonemoto, Daniel Joseph Martinez, Barbara Jones, Joe Lewis, Milena Muzquiz, Marcos Ramirez ERRE, Mariana Botey, and Rita Gonzalez & Jesse Lerner. Curated by Michael Dear and Gustavo Leclerc of the USC Southern California Studies Center.

Please be mindful that the University will be closed from Thursday, November 28 until December 2, 2002 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday and that most exhibits will not be open during this period of time.
