Faculty artists Gary Glaze, Alan Smith and Richard Todd collaborate in an evening of song and chamber music

This concert will feature three members of the Thornton faculty performing chamber music from around the world. Tenor Gary Glaze and pianist Alan Smith will perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s lyrical love song Adelaide, South American composer Julio Osma’s song cycle of unrequited love Cantares de mi tierra, and songs by Charles Ives and Ross Lee Finney. Richard Todd will present the virtuosic Sonata in E-Flat for Alto Horn by Paul Hindemith, and then collaborate with Mr. Glaze and Mr. Smith in a performance of Benjamin Britten’s Canticle III, a work inspired by the bombing raids endured by England in WWII.

The Thornton Music Masters Series is ongoing series of recitals featuring outstanding members of the Thornton School of Music faculty. These performances, ranging from solo cellist Ronald Leonard to the jazz duo of Frank Potenza and Shelton Berg, provide a rare opportunity to experience amazing music-making in an informal setting.
