Thornton Studio/Jazz Guitar Faculty Recital

Sponsored by USC Thornton School of Music

Sun, November 17, 2002 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Admission: Free

Arnold Schoenberg Institute Recital Hall (ASI)
University Park Campus

Frank Potenza, Richard Smith, Pat Kelley, Adam del Monte and Stephan Trovato all take to the stage in this unusual performance by all of Thornton's studio/jazz guitar masters.

Known for celebrating the immense diversity of the guitar in popular music, the USC Studio/Jazz guitar department will present a concert featuring its very own outstanding faculty. Frank Potenza, Richard Smith, Pat Kelley, Steve Trovato, Joe Diorio, David Oakes and Adam del Monte will appear in a concert presenting their unique arrangements of standard and popular songs.

Music of many different styles will be performed, from the jazz vibes of Richard Smith and the flamenco flourishes of Adam del Monte to the pop classics of Pat Kelley and the funk-infused rhythms of Frank Potenza. Collaborating with a rhythm section including the notable Los Angeles studio bassist Abraham Laboriel and other colleagues, the featured guitarists performing in this event will demonstrate the musical versatility of the jazz guitar.
