A discussion of the latest Ultra-wideband technology issues.

The Ultra-wideband (UWB) Technology Workshop will feature representatives from academia, industry and government discussing the latest UWB technology issues. This new technology uses pulses of radio energy rather than radio waves to transmit information wirelessly in a digital form, offering a broad range of possible applications, from wireless voice and high-speed data communications to advanced radar systems. Earlier this year, the Federal Communications Commission legalized the use of UWB techniques for imaging systems, vehicular radar systems, and communications and measurement systems. Discussion at the workshop will focus on such issues as worldwide regulatory approval, low-cost and low-power designs for high volume manufacturing, and novel system architectures that allow for peaceful coexistence with other narrowband systems while maximizing total system capacity.
