A retrospective of the work of the hispanic movie star

"Tongolele" aka Yolanda Ivonne Móntez Farrington Despite her long career in Mexico, this icon of the Rumbera film genre was actually born in Spokane, Washington. Her father was Spanish/Swedish and her mother English/French Tongolele became a professional dancer at the age of 15 and after an appearance in Tijuana, moved to Mexico City in late 1946. She worked in numerous Mexican films into the 1980s and is still active as a dancer and actress on TV and in live venues.
