Katherine Perez is leading a two-year Growth Visioning effort under contract to the Southern California Association of Government.

This will be the largest growth visioning exercise ever conducted in the U.S. As a precursor to the project, on October 10, the USC Lusk Center for Real Estate and the Urban Land Institute-Los Angeles convened a 250-person workshop, "Reality Check on Growth." Participants debated future land use patterns on 6-foot maps placed at some 20 different tables.

The featured presentation will summarize the experience of the October 10 USC workshop and place it in the context of the new growth visioning exercise scheduled to start in January. This seminar affords a sneak preview of the large, region-wide venture. Supplementing Perez's talk will be additional comments/presentations by three participants at the October 10 event, Raphael Bostic, Christine Lam, and Dowell Myers. Audience questions will be entertained at the end.
