Renowned musicians perform the Third Violin Sonata of Edvard Grieg, the Quintet in E-flat by Johann Hummel and the Double Viola Sextet by Felix Mendelssohn.

Veteran musician Peter Marsh brings together his colleagues for a concert of chamber music from the 19th century. Accompanied by Kevin Fitz-Gerald at the piano, Mr. Marsh will perform Edvard Grieg’s Violin Sonata No. 3 in C Minor, Op. 45 and then welcome violists Victoria Miskolczy and Travis Maril, cellist Daniel Rothmuller and double bassist Dennis Trembly to the stage for performances of Johann Hummel’s Quintet in E-Flat, Op. 87 and the Sextet in D, Op. 110 by Felix Mendelssohn.

Peter Marsh refined his chamber technique as first violinist of the Lennox, Philadelphia, Berkshire, Sequoia, Southwest and Pacific Quartets. His frequent collaborator Kevin Fitz-Gerald has concertized as a piano soloist throughout the U.S., Canada, Japan, Australia, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. Cellist Daniel Rothmuller and double bassist Dennis Trembly serve dual roles as members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the faculty of the Thornton School of Music. Victoria Miskolczy is the associate principal violist of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and Travis Maril is a member of the American Youth Symphony.

The Thornton Music Masters Series is ongoing series of recitals featuring outstanding members of the Thornton School of Music faculty. These performances, ranging from solo pianist John Perry to the jazz duo of Shelton Berg and Alan Pasqua, provide a rare opportunity to experience amazing music-making in an informal setting.
