Ceramics, photographs, and watercolor paintings by USC School of Fine Arts alumni Stan Hunter, Tomo Isoyama, and Alison Kuo are featured in an exhibition on food and culture at Bistro 1000.

Bistro 1000 and the USC School of Fine Arts presents its second exhibition of visual art featuring three alumni from the USC School of Fine Arts titled "CONSUMING ART." The theme of the exhibition is food and culture, much suited for the location, Bistro 1000. An opening reception is scheduled on Saturday, February 22, from 3-8 PM.

Stanton Hunter (MFA 1999) creates ceramic and mixed-media sculpture that is uniquely architectural while implying traditional shapes of bowls and vases, turning the work into composite physical objects that transcend the boundaries between the functional utensils and "sculpture."

Tomo Isoyama's (MFA 1999) enthusiastic investigations about the ethnic restaurants in the Greater Los Angeles Area resulted in a rather humorous looking series of photographs. Isoyama photographed the inside of well-known ethnic restaurants to capture the moment of cultural interactions, in which lonesome and adventurous individuals enjoy being "alien."

Alison Kuo's (MFA 2002) witty and evocative water color paintings dissect cultural standards of behavior and subtly and humorously ask the viewer, "what is etiquette?"
