Speakers Vincent Siew, Steven Chi-Shean Chan, and Charles Wolf, Jr. discuss economic challenges faced by Taiwan.

Vincent Siew was the Premier of Taiwan from 1997 to 2000. Currently, Mr. Siew is the Director at the Chung-Hua Institute for Economic Research. He is also the Chairman at the Cross-Straits Market Foundation. Recently, Mr. Siew has been promoting the idea of building a Cross-Straits Common Market between mainland China and Taiwan, modeled on the European Union.

Steve Chan, M.D. is the National Policy Advisor to the President, Republic of China (ROC). He also holds the position of Ambassador-at-Large for ROC. Formerly, he was the Minister for the Department of Health, The Executive Yuan, ROC, from 1997 until 2000. Steve Chan has worked recently with the Bridging Global Gaps project, addressing the challenges of globalization in developing countries

Charles Wolf, Jr., Ph.D., is senior economic adviser and corporate fellow in international economics at RAND. Dr. Wolf is an authority on international economic policy, East-West economic relations, economic development, and relationships between economic and national security issues.
