This 1974 film starring Gene Hackman, John Cazale, Harrison Ford, Robert Duvall and Teri Garr explores issues at the core of the work featured in USC Fisher Gallery's exhibition Transfictions: Jack Butler, Eileen Cowin, and Grant Mudford.

"The Conversation" delves into the mind of a surveillance agent and the technological foray into the everyday. The film relates to the photography and digital work in Transfictions by commenting on the role of the artist as an observer of distinct moments in the public and private lives of individuals.

This screening includes an introduction and discussion led by film scholar Michael du Plessis.
