Horne’s credits as a leading lady include 25 years at the Metropolitan Opera and 35 years at the San Francisco Opera. She has received numerous honors in the United States and abroad, including the National Medal of Arts and the Fidelio Gold Medal from the International Association of Opera Directors.

Alumni Merit Award

Alumni Merit Awards are given to individuals whose remarkable accomplishments speak well for the range and quality of a USC education.

Gorlitsky also serves as staff physician at Clinica Oscar Romero and chair of the Bioethics Committee at California Hospital Medical Center. Her commitment to delivering healthcare to underserved communities in Los Angeles, Mexico and Latin America earned her top honors as Los Angeles’ Physician Humanitarian of the Year in 2003.

Ed Gregory Hookstratten ’53, sports and entertainment lawyer. A former USC pitcher, Hookstratten’s counsel and expertise have contributed to the strength of USC’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics for nearly 40 years. As chairman of the initial fund-raising committee for Dedeaux Field, as well as the renovation campaign, Hookstratten’s leadership has been essential to the success of both campaigns.
