Sandra Reynolds, associate professor of gerontology at the University of South Florida, discusses how obesity impacts life expectancy.
Reynolds researches physical and mental disabilities and is currently on sabbatical at the USC/UCLA Center on Biodemography and Population Health.
On the micro-social side, Reynolds' research involves older adults’ exposure to financial abuse, guardianship and their use of advance directives. On the macro-social side, Reynolds has been investigating time and cohort trends in the health and functioning of older adults, and has recently begun an extensive study of trends in adult obesity and its effects on active life expectancy.
