E.J. Graff, author of "What Is Marriage For? The Strange Social History of Our Most Intimate Institution," examines 2,500 years of marriage as the central pillar of social life and shares her thoughts on the legalization of same-sex marriage.

Graff has written on a multitude of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues and her work has appeared in such publications as The New York Times Magazine, The Boston Globe, The Boston Phoenix, Ms., The Advocate, The Nation and The Village Voice.
