In an advance screening benefiting the USC Black Alumni Association, producer, director and USC alumnus Taylor Hackford presents his soon-to-be-released film "Ray," a bio-pic chronicling the life of legendary blues singer Ray Charles.

Following the screening, a panel of experts will discuss the film (which stars Jamie Foxx and Regina King) and Charles' career. Panelists include Hackford (class of ’68) and Ron McCurdy, chair of the USC Jazz department.

Among Hackford’s other directorial projects are “An Officer and a Gentleman,” “Everybody’s All American,” “The Long Walk Home” and “Mortal Thoughts.”

The film will be in theaters nationwide on Oct. 29.
