Contemporary photographer Rena Small discusses her portraits of artists' hands as signatory icons and elaborates on how hands are the pipeline to the unconscious.
Since 1985, she has chosen to photograph the hands of hundreds of noted American artists.
Four of Small’s photographs, featuring the hands of well-known artists Richard Diebenkorn and Ed Ruscha (pictured), among others, are part of the ‘Insatiable Desires’ exhibition.
