The ensemble’s Mystical Music of the Middle East program is dedicated to fostering an understanding of Middle Eastern cultures and religions.

Many have searched for the meaning and purpose of life. For Yuval Ron, the answer is peace—peace in politics and peace through music. The dissemination of peace and harmony is at the root of almost every piece that The Yuval Ron Ensemble performs. The ensemble's Mystical Music of the Middle East program is dedicated to fostering an understanding of Middle Eastern cultures and religions.

The performance, as spiritual as it is diverse, is inspired by Ron's vast knowledge of the history and culture of the people at the heart of the group’s focus. The program is a collaboration that honors the sacred musical traditions of Judaism, Sufism (Islamic mystical tradition) and the Christian Armenian Church. A composer and world-music record producer, Ron discusses the ancient and deep inter-cultural connection between the three traditions and the musical influences they share. "Yuval Ron and friends are refreshing like an oasis in the desert," said John H. Rauch, president of the Center for Jewish Culture and Creativity.

The concert features songs of Sufi origin, Jewish prayers from Morocco and Yemen and Armenian Church chants. The ensemble brings together musicians from Israel, Lebanon, Armenia, France and the USA featuring the Armenian master musician Norik Manoukian on woodwinds.

The musical director of the ensemble and its namesake, Yuval Ron has worked on a plethora of projects since becoming an international composer and record producer. His scores for TV and film have garnered critical acclaim and he is a recipient of multiple grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Rockefeller Foundation and the American Composers Forum.

Ron has worked with the Moscow Symphony, the LAJS Symphony and the New Hampshire Philharmonic and received commissions from the American Repertory Ballet and the ISO Dance Company. His efforts as a lecturer and leader of workshops at the Berklee College of Music, MIT, UCSD and the Boston Center for the Arts gave him ample experience and prepared him to curate and host The International Underground, a world music concert series at the UCLA Hammer Museum.
