10th Annual Friends & Neighbors Day

Sponsored by the USC Volunteer Center

Sat, August 20, 2005 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm

Admission: Free

McCarthy Quad
University Park Campus

Come celebrate USC's 125th Anniversary with the Volunteer Center! Meet new people and learn more about the USC and greater Los Angeles communities. Choose from 30 different projects to be completed all over the Los Angeles region.

On the Saturday before classes begin, students will meet in McCarthy Quad. While a free breakfast is provided, they browse the project tables where team leaders provide descriptions of the day’s opportunities. After a brief introduction, we send as many as 700 students to over 30 service sites throughout the Los Angeles area to do hands-on work with local community organizations. Students are welcomed back to campus a few hours later for a free lunch and the opportunity to share their experiences with the other participants.

In the past, projects have included landscaping and painting at Urban Farm and Orchard, gardening at Sunshine Mission women’s shelter, and arts and crafts with kids at St. Vincent’s School.

All USC students, alumni, faculty and staff are invited to attend these events!
