Fatty Acid Transport Proteins: Gatekeepers of Lipid Metabolism.

Sponsored by USC Research Center for Liver Diseases

Thu, September 29, 2005 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm

Admission: Free

Hoffman Hall, Hastings Auditorium (HMR)
Health Sciences Campus

The focus of Andreas Stahl's laboratory is to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying the uptake of key metabolites into cells, with a particular emphasis on fatty acids.

Increased levels of intracellular fatty acids can be detrimental and have been directly linked to the development of type 2 (adult onset) diabetes.

Andreas Stahl, PhD
Associate Staff Scientist, Research Institute, Palo Alto Medical Foundation
Consulting Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine, Stanford University
