USC Verle L. Annis Architecture Gallery (HAR)
University Park Campus

Seventeen original landscapes will comprise this invitational exhibit of designs for the Architectural Research Center's "Sky Gardens."

The School of Architecture's 21,000 square foot 3rd floor expansion of Ray & Nadine Watt Hall, the Architectural Research Center, will house the School's four graduate programs. Alternating gardens and office spaces will form a ten-foot perimeter around the building. Each of the 17 gardens will be an original landscape design by an internationally renowned landscape architect. A permanent endowment will be created to generate the funds for continuing maintenance. With the use of drought-tolerant and sustainable plants, the gardens will serve as a valuable tool for landscape studies and will act as the lungs for the building - allowing air to flow through the office, studio and gallery spaces.

Exhibition participants will include Ken Smith, Ken Smith Landscape Architect, New York; James Lord, Peter Walker & Partners, Berkeley; Tom Leader, Tom Leader Studio, Berkeley; Nancy Power, Nancy Goslee Power & Associates, Santa Monica and David Fletcher, Fletcher Studio, Los Angeles. Mark Rios of Rios, Clementi, Hale Studios, Los Angeles and Director of the Landscape Program at the USC School of Architecture is coordinating the exhibit.

A reception will be held on September 26 at 6 PM in the Trojan Courtyard, Harris Hall.
