This is the first symposium in the three-part speaker series “Becoming A Physician”. This series was designed as a forum to bring existing and emerging issues in medical ethics and professionalism to the awareness of undergraduate students.

Through a series of didactic and interactive sessions, our expert speakers will examine many issues and controversies present in our current healthcare system. We hope this series helps to enrich and engage the next generation of healing professionals. This talk will include three panelists who will explore the legal, political, commercial, media, and medical dimensions of the Schiavo case.

These speakers include:
- Laurie Levenson, JD, Professor of Lawand Director of Center for Ethical Advocacy, Loyola Law School
- Sherry Bebitch Jeffe, PhD, Senior Scholar, USC School of Public Policy and Development
- James W. Hornstein, MD, Chairman, Bioethics Committee VCMC-UCLA, visiting faculty UCLA, USC

Registration is free and all are welcome.

Refreshments will be served and Advance Directives will be available to fill out.
