Glossary Of Terms And Services

W

Web Registration - The university’s online course registration system. Web Registration can be accessed at my.usc.edu and at www.usc.edu/webregistration. Web Registration works with all browsers. The system’s Auto Scheduler feature provides schedule options using the courses a student selects. A student may use the Auto Scheduler any time before his or her registration appointment time occurs. Web Registration can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for schedule building and planning. Drop and add transactions are processed Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 11 p.m. A confirmation will be e-mailed upon completion of the registration transaction. The registration helpline is (213) 740-8500.

Withdrawal (W) - A cancellation of enrollment in a course. Students have until the end of the 12th week of the semester to drop courses (or the week-12 equivalent for courses that last less than 15 weeks). The mark of W is assigned to any course dropped after the third week. An instructor may not withdraw a student from a course. No course may be dropped after the 12th week — although in exceptional cases students may petition to withdraw from a course after the 12th week. Such petitions are rarely approved. Also note that students may not withdraw from a course in which they have committed or have been accused of committing an academic integrity violation.

The names of students who have officially withdrawn from a course will appear with a pre-assigned mark of W in the Final Grade column
