USC Department of Registration
Registration Procedures
Registration is the final step that a student takes before attending classes. Before enrolling in classes, students should:
- Clear all holds and restrictions
- Meet with an academic advisor
- Take any necessary placement tests
- Obtain all registration materials which include:
- Obtain a Permit to Register that contains their registration appointment time (new students only). Currently enrolled students can learn their registration appointment time by accessing the OASIS (www.usc.edu/oasis), and then clicking on Permit to Register.
- Select the courses to register on the Web Registration.
- Obtain D-clearance and waivers for any course on your schedule.
- Download a Request for Change of Program Form (also available at the Registration Building) if a program change cannot be processed on Web Registration. Bring the Change of Program form to the Registration Building to request the transaction in person. It is highly recommended that a student obtain approval from the professor before adding an open "R" class after the first week of classes. An instructor may replace any student who, without prior consent, does not attend the following class sessions:
- the first two class sessions, or
- the first class session of the semester for once-a-week classes.
