Tuition Exchange Scholarship Program

www.tuitionexchange.org external link

USC belongs to the Tuition Exchange Scholarship Program, a nonprofit national association that administers a reciprocal scholarship program for children of eligible faculty and staff with 586 participating institutions. Tuition Exchange is not a benefit program, but a selective and competitive scholarship. The scholarships are primarily for undergraduate study. A complete listing of participating institutions as well as other information is available at the Tuition Exchange Web site.

The USC Tuition Exchange program is housed in the Office of the Registrar. The Tuition Exchange Scholarship will be awarded for a maximum of eight semesters, renewed each year, dependent upon satisfactory academic progress and good conduct. Units taken under the Tuition Exchange Scholarship program will count toward the 144 undergraduate or 72 graduate unit maximum for tuition assistance at USC.

Who's eligible?

  • Children of full-time and part-time staff
  • Children of full-time faculty
  • Children of former staff or full-time faculty with 15 or more years of benefits eligible service

Cost

Scholarship awards are competitive, are based on policies set by each member institution, and may range from approximately 75 to 100 percent of tuition. Each year the Tuition Exchange national office establishes a minimum dollar value that every participating institution must provide. That amount is available on the Tuition Exchange Web site.

What do I need to do?

Eligible faculty and staff who wish to participate in the program must submit a Tuition Exchange application prior to October 1 of their child's senior year in high school (or the year before their anticipated fall semester matriculation). In addition, participating students must apply for admission through the normal admission process at the institution they wish to attend.
