USC Child and Dependent Care Needs Assessment Survey

Questions and Answers
Why is USC doing this survey?
USC Administrative Operations initiated this survey to help us better understand and quantify the current and future needs our faculty and staff may have for child care and other dependent care services and benefits. The provost's Advisory Committee on Work and Family Life assisted in identifying specific issues to be addressed and an appropriate consulting firm to conduct the survey.
Who is doing this survey?
We have engaged Bright Horizons Family Solutions Consulting Practice, an outside consulting firm specializing in this field, to administer the survey. Bright Horizons Family Solutions Consulting Practice is part of Bright Horizons Family Solutions, Inc., the world's leading provider of employer-sponsored child care, early education and work/life consulting service.
How is my anonymity protected?
This survey is completely anonymous. No names or individual identifiers are associated with your responses. There is no tracking of individual respondents and only group data will be reported to USC. Individual anonymous responses will be viewed only by the Bright Horizons survey personnel.
Will the USC community see the results of the survey?
We hope to report the results of the survey in this fall's edition of Benefits News.
Why should I participate in the survey if I don't need child care?
Whether or not you have young children, the data we receive from the survey will help us get a more complete picture of the demographics of the need for child care, other dependent care services, and the impact K-12 schooling have on homeownership in our local neighborhoods. Information from the survey will be used to frame discussion for long-term benefits planning. Not only is each employee's response important to us, but the results will be more valid and useful as more employees complete this survey. The survey will take less than 10 minutes to complete if you do not have young children.
When will the survey be conducted?
USC faculty and staff will receive e-mail the week of April 28May 2 inviting them to participate in the survey. The survey may be completed online through May 23.
Is there a paper version of this survey available?
There is no paper version of this survey available. It can only be completed online. The survey is interactive so that respondents answer different questions based on their response to prior questions. You may complete the survey from any computer. If you do not have access to a computer, you may go to your Home Department Coordinator or your department's HR office for assistance. You also can use computer labs on campus. To use the computers at these facilities, you must present your employee ID card.
