Theoretical Research

I.R. Senitzky - Topics presently under study include the following:
- Dynamics of Level Systems Coupled to Resonant Cavity Modes: The
behavior of three and four level atomic systems subject to coherent
pumping near some of the resonant frequencies is studied. The
possibilities of multi-photon population inversion for the production
of laser oscillation at frequencies higher than the pump frequency is
investigated.
- Resonance Fluorescence of N-Level Systems: The spectral properties
of free-space radiation from N-level atoms that are subjected to a
coherent driving field near resonance are investigated. The number of
sidebands and the dependence of the spectrum on the strength and
frequency (near resonance) of the driving field are of special
interest.
