USC UNDERGRADUATES COMPLETED INTERNATIONAL INTERNSHIPS IN ASIA THIS SUMMER. As a recipient of a grant from the Freeman Foundation, USC sent 22 American undergraduates to Asia this past summer, for internships at more than 20 host organizations throughout the region.  Over the last two years, more than 45 USC Freeman Fellow interns have returned to the U.S. more competent, confident and willing to work abroad. The Freeman internship experience has deepened the interns’ understanding of Asian culture, business and politics, helped them develop a world view, and made them valuable assets for USC and the United States.  Related website HERE.

THE USC MARSHALL SCHOOL OF BUSINESS WAS IN THE ASIAN WALL STREET JOURNAL (page A8/9 September 2002): "..Recruiters at Charles Schwab & Co. find students at such schools as the University of Southern California and the University of California at Berkeley a better cultural fit with the company than Stanford graduates. USC and Berkeley students bring the teamwork and interpersonal skills that Schwab values.."  In another related news, the latest issue (October '02) of Business Week ranked Marshall MBA program # 17, a jump of 7 spots from year 2000's ranking of # 24. Business Week publishes the results of an extensive sampling of graduate programs both nationally and internationally. The survey weights recruiters (45%), students (45%) and intellectual capital (10%). Surveyed recruiters highly praised Marshall graduates, and students surveyed were pleased with the school's academics, according to Business Week. This ranking marks the first time Business Week has placed Marshall among the top 20 MBA programs. In April 2002, U.S. News & World Report also advanced Marshall into the top 20 nationally.  Congratulations to all Marshall MBA and the USC general alumni population!
