| Dr. Stephen E. Toulmin |
- Stephen E. Toulmin is the Henry R. Luce Professor
for the Center for Multiethnic and Transnational Studies. He was born in
London,England and has since become a US citizen. He was educated at Cambridge
University where he received his Ph.D. in Ethics. Dr. Toulmin has since
served as a Fellow for the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Honorable

In Dr. Toulmin's extensive career he has worked in the fields of humanities and philosophy with Northwestern University,University of Chicago, University of California at Santa Cruz, Michigan State University, Brandeis University, University of Leeds, Oxford University and King's College.
Dr. Toulmin has published many books among them his most recent publications include, The Inner Life, the Outer Mind; The Abuse of Casuistry (with A.R. Jackson); Cosmopolis: The Hidden Agenda of Modernity; and Beyond Theory. In addition to written works, Dr. Toulmin has worked on many films including The Tunnel of Eupalinus (B.B.C) and Earth and Sky (Leeds University).
