Ashley Sands

While at USC, Ashley Sands performed research on tin-bronze manufacture in Turkey. She studied slag samples from Kenan Tepe and Ziyaret Tepe, using XRF/XRD and scanning electron microscopy to discover the elemental composition of the samples. This research provided direct evidence for how tin-bronze was produced during ancient times. Ashley was a double major in Religion and Classics at USC and a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She is currently a PhD student in UCLA’s Information Studies department. Ashley's current research interests include scholarly communication, scientific data practices, and digital publication.
