The Office of College Advising is the academic home for Open, Undecided and Undeclared students. Professional staff advisors and a myriad of services are available for students searching for, and switching majors.

Students with declared majors in the USC College can find contact information for departments at USC College Undergraduate Advisement.

Services are also available for students interested in graduate and professional school programs with Pre-Graduate School, Pre-Health, and Pre-Law advising services.

Academic Advisement for Undecided & Undeclared Students

Every semester, prior to registration, students will meet with an academic advisor to discuss course selection. However, students are encouraged to meet about choosing a major(s), a minor(s), and individual paths to graduation, not only during mandatory advisement, but also throughout the semester.

The Learning Community Program

The Learning Community Program allows new students to get connected with the campus community and local Los Angeles area & explore new academic disciplines. Participants are matched with a faculty mentor, staff advisor, & peer mentor.

Choosing Your Major Workshops

Held throughout the Fall and Spring semesters, the Choosing Your Major Workshops are designed to help students get started on the “major decision-making” process. Ask the College Advising staff about the upcoming scheduled dates.

New Student Seminars for First-Year and Transfer Students

Opportunities to meet other new Trojans and helpful staff in the first few weeks on campus are just a couple of reasons why students attend a New Student Seminar. The seminars are a great approach to getting to know one’s peers, advisor, and the campus resources.

Pre-Graduate School Advising

For students and alumni of all majors, a Pre-Graduate School Advisor is available to help explore advanced degree programs in all fields outside of the allied health professions and law.
