APPLICATION DEADLINE: JANUARY 1st OF EACH YEAR MEMBERS OF UNDERREPRESENTED MINORITIES WHO WISH TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE ALL UNIVERSITY PREDOCTORAL DIVERSITY FELLOWSHIP ARE URGED TO SUBMIT THEIR APPLICATIONS BY DECEMBER 1. We do not mail out nor accept paper applications. 1. Please apply online at: http://www.usc.edu/admission/graduate/apply Once there you will be able to upload to your application the following required materials and have your recommenders upload their letters to your application. If your recommenders need to mail in their letters, please use the following address: Ph.D. in Literature & Creative Writing Program, Attn: Janalynn Bliss, USC Dept. of English, 3501 Trousdale Parkway THH 431, Los Angeles, CA 90089-0354 2. Please Note: You must take the GRE General and Literature Subject Exams. NO EXCEPTIONS. If you take your GRE's in December, your scores will arrive after the January 1st deadline. This is acceptable. Taking your GRE's after the January 1st deadline is not acceptable and your application will not be read. 3. Creative Writing sample: Fiction (25 pages) or Poetry (10-12 pages). Please do not send entire manuscripts. Select and send only the number of pages requested. 4. Critical writing sample (10-12 pages). This writing sample must be a scholarly critical work. Book reviews will not satify this requirement. 5. Statement of purpose (no more than 3 pages). 6. Three letters of recommendation. 7. Statement of Interest in Teaching Composition (300-500 enthusiastic words). 8. Resume. We appreciate your interest in our program and look forward to receiving your application. |
