APPLICATION DEADLINE: DECEMBER 1st

 

We do not mail out nor accept paper applications.

1. Please apply online at: http://www.usc.edu/admission/graduate/apply

Once there you will be able to upload to your application the following required materials and have your recommenders upload their letters to your application.

2. Please Note: You must take the GRE General and Literature Subject Exams. NO EXCEPTIONS.

If you take your GRE's in December, your scores will arrive after the application deadline. Taking your GRE's after the December 1st deadline is not acceptable and your application will not be read.

3. Creative Writing sample: Fiction (approximately 25 pages) or Poetry (approximately 10-12 pages). Please do not send entire manuscripts. Select and send only the number of pages requested.

4. Critical writing sample (10-25 pages). This writing sample must be a scholarly critical work. Book reviews will not satify this requirement.

5. Statement of purpose (no more than 3 pages)

6. Three letters of recommendation from academic referees. You may include additional letters from other sources.

7. Statement of Interest in Teaching Composition (300-500 enthusiastic words)

8. Resume/CV

9.Official Transcrips: Please request official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate coursework. Send to the following address: USC Office of Graduate Admissions, 3601 S. Flower St. #112, Los Angeles, CA 90089-0915.
