| Carol Muske-Dukes is a poet, fiction writer and critic (a regular reviewer for the New York Times Book Review and the Los Angeles Times Book Review) and Director of the new Ph.D. Program in Literature and Creative Writing at University of Southern California. She is the author of six books of poems, three novels (most recently, Life After Death, published in June, 2001 by Random House), and two collections of essays (most recently Married To The Icepick Killer: A Poet In Hollywood, Random House, 2002). Her awards and prizes include a Guggenheim Foundation fellowship, Witter-Bynner Award from the Library of Congress, an NEA fellowship, the di Castagnola Award, the Dylan Thomas Poetry Award, an Ingram-Merrill award, and several Pushcart Prizes. Her books have been a Los Angeles Times Book Prize finalist and a PEN Award finalist, and she has had novels cited as New York Times Most Notable Books. She has taught at Columbia's Graduate Writing Program, the Iowa Writers' Workshop, University of California Irvine's Graduate Writing Program, and other universities. She is Professor of English at the University of Southern California and Director of the USC PhD in Literature and Creative Writing program.
