Abraham Lincoln was the "Great Emancipator." Part of his greatness was that he understood the joint need to free the slaves and maintain national unity.

 

The main problem with the Collective Approach is that it promotes unifying African Americans against white Americans. It says blacks must educate whites. It says blacks must have their own leaders, their own press, their own economic institutions, and their own political organizations.

 

Surely, this support for racial polarization and racial exclusivity will make it impossible to move toward a harmonious and democratic America. On the contrary, racial polarization will likely produce violence:

 

By way of contrast, the Individual Approach promotes racial harmony and cooperation in a sober effort to progress toward greater democracy. That is what I recommend!
